Got some Sidi Dominator 4's from Chain Reaction a couple of months ago for £79.99, they're pretty comfy, get a size larger than normal though. My last pair of Dom 1's lasted 8 years...treads did start to flap after a couple of years and needed re-glueing every so often but shouldn't have this problem with new ones as they have a moulded sole/tread.
Halfords Bikehut have Diadora Jalapenos for £33 (reduced from £50) if in stock. Again, buy a size larger than usual, 2 sizes if you have wide feet. Big mesh panels let the water in though...
I like my Shimano M120s which I got from CRC for £35. Not ultra stiff, but stiff enough and very comfy for long days out in the saddle. A bit too breezy and mesh like for winter, though.
try different pairs on... i don't get on with shimano shoes so well, but love spesh. different brands have different shapes. i only bought my spesh shoes over the internet cos i'd had spesh before and knew they suited me well.
I seem to remember George Dubya have a crash on his MTB at the G8 summit in Scotland, IIRC he hit one of his body guards, and arrived govered in gravel rash, how professional. Tit.
