Morning chaps. John - I thought that was your VW I saw on Thursday night! I was out doing some secret training, Hobo was supposed to come out also but bailed (think he might have had man flu, which is much more serious than swine flu). My attempt to do a lap of Mabie as quick as possible was not impressive. Must try harder. Not sure if I'm going to get out this week - work is looking very busy over the next few days.

It was hobo flu Andy. The worst case i have ever seen! I will be riding next week so we can compare laps of mabie

howgills may 24th, did you say you have a route Dave ? I have one also, approx 22 miles from Sedbergh, but Im easy. How about approx 9.00am meet ?
Thats the one Andrew, it wasn't Crossfell that kicked our arse it was that wind. On my way across I get a good view of the tops and THIS is exactly how the cloud bar looked from the East yesterday!!!!! Ally I have done it from various start points and IMO it is much better setting off from the otherside at Ravonstonedale. That way you have a good distance in the legs before tackling the big climb upto The Calf. Also after the long singletrack descent it gives you the option of doing some of the BW's on the other side if your legs are still feeling upto it!!!!
I'm planning to come up for the next bank holiday so will join you for Howgills JH if you're still going I can pick you up on the way through?
 Nice one Mike

Ravenstonedale is fine, will be good to finish with the long singletrack section.
So its me and thee, plus John and Mike ?

So unless something happens between now & then we have a date "My attempt to do a lap of Mabie as quick as possible was not impressive. Must try harder." "I will be riding next week so we can compare laps of mabie " You lot need to come out with my kids group

Gilly and I did the Back of Skiddaw ride on Saturday, only let down was a pretty strong headwind that never really eased, at least it was sunny though Hows your secret training going?????

I havent ridden other than with dave at the weekend. The running is going ok but i need to do it more than 1-2 per week really. Gonna give mabie a blast today and have my first 11a side match on sunday in 8yrs. I will either get sent off, get injured or both. Oh looks like me and Ben will be walking up Catbells on Sat if anyone fancies a tootle after lunch (Depending on weather). That wind was pretty strong wasnt it. Its still blowing a gale today

Hi Simon I was out riding yesterday It was windy, very, very, very windy It was wet, very, very, very wet I have no brakes on my bike It was very exciting descending the rocky bw down into Hawes. It was great Had a go on an Orange 5 Found Prolink chain lube which proved up to the job in yesterdays ultimate test Simon. There is an estate down the M6 way that has their field gates painted with a cream 2nd bottom bar. Why? Do you know?

Yeah the winds making riding harder, but as I keep thinking its just another form of resistance training . I have re-found your Parrot top to Hobo, after telling you I had got it I then panicked when I couldn't find it again.......I will drop it in to work for you, probably tomorrow if your around. Wow I can imagine it would be pretty blowy in the dales John, not much chance of shelter either. As for the gates, I can only imagine its the same as the Lowther ones having a white top rail, its just a way of showing ownership. I am trying to do a bit of running too Hobo, only a couple of miles at the mo all offroad, but Gilly and I are aiming to do the cumberland run at the end of the year, more fundraising than pleasure.

Hi Dave. Sat is "wifes" day, Sun is work day. What happened re your work, resolved or have I missed the news?
Grrr, pulled into car park at mabie with puncture before the ride. Had 4 old tubes in van as well. Despite repairing at least 10 punctures on all of the tubes i still didnt end up with a working tube One even blew out when i got it inflated. I ran out of blooming glue & patches. After about 1hr i gave up, packed it all away and went home.
