My bike is now wearing flat bars and.............bar ends!! Hoping it may give me some alternative hand positions on longer rides. Anyone coming to the lakes Fri or Sat?

Great ride tonight. Davey, i reckon i could save a few lbs by having a back, sack, chest & crack done a well. Felt good on the new set up though. Carl was eating dust!!

been out this morning up the dales, top ride but.....my tyres are shit, currently on Panaracer Fire XC 2.1's and im only using them because i paid good money for them and im tight fisted ! Anyway i need some new ones, any suggestions ? I was previously on Specialised Pro 2.2 and I quite liked them.
I want a good all rounder, to use all in conditions, all year, not too fat and not too expensive. cheers.

I have some Geax Loco Lobos which are big, fat & heavy but are now 2yrs old!!! Slow on the ups but can be run low on pressure for the downs and better grip. Geax do a nice xc tyre that I fancy for summer. Otherwise Maxxis Who`s all going on 24th? If Rob comes he`s happy to drive his van which can take 8 people and bikes inside. So from Dumfries that would be; Me Mike Rob Ian From Carlisle?

Ally, shim is your man for tyres. He has a bit of a 'thing' for tyres Latrigg - Thursday Whinlatter - Friday Whinlatter - Saturday Did it tonight with a couple of chaps from darn sarf. One was a bit of a flyer and had a great ride. The other chap was a bit goosed by the end so i cheekily suggested he may appreciate driving my van down from the car park. I didnt need a seconds oppertunity when he said yes. Me and the other guy (Ed) went down Seldom Seen Its a great track but its slippy as hell atm.

Ally Kenda Kinetics Stick E 2.35 up front, Kenda have stopped doing them but you should still be able to pick one up off the web. When I need to change the Kinetics if I can't find one I'm going to try a tacky single ply Minion, I like the tread pattern and feel of the twin ply that I have on the DH bike and weight wise they aren't too bad. At the back I've been running Maxxis Advantage 2.1's for a while now which I'm really impressed with, matched with the Kenda up front I find them a real good all round pair at home on the fast rolling trail centres, rocky Lakes or grassy draggy Dales BW's but you could go High Roller or how about a Crossmark or a Kenda Small Block, depends what you want really. Sunday 24th How about a 9.30am meet for a 10am start at the Primary School in the middle of Ravonstonedale?

Ok by me & the gang.

 Me too

9.30 is fine by me too.
Dave - just ordered a pair of Advantage 2.1's - £15.00 each from CRC.
John - got the B&B booked at your mates place for 29th.

Bit of dietry advice lads. If you change from a mainly meat based diet to 100% vegetarian diet for 4 days you may find your bowel activities change slightly!! I didnt know what the hell was going on. Oh, i got some great advice from the Lucozade rep at the festival. Quite fascinating to find how far wrong i go when fueling for my riding. By the figures he as quoting i am surprised i make it out of bed He was very generous with his free samples though. I have enough for the forseeable future. We tried out the chocolate & caramel, Rasberry and some other bar on last nights ride and they were all lovely. Oh I also got some freebies from the Cliff stall. Jelly cube energy gels look good and taste nice.

Ally I'm assuming looking at the price and CRC website you've bought the 70A durrometer one, that's a hard compound and you might find it very sketchy on wet rock!! I've never used an Advantage up front so really not sure what it will be like. Maxxis Info

Oh talking to one of the guys from cycleactive, he was raving about the new blue section at whinlatter. Said it was well worth building into the route in the same way the glentress blue works. Gonna check it out next time i am there

Evening all. Hobo - don't think I can manage anything Tuesday but Thursday or Friday sounds good. I'll give you a phone tomorrow sometime - we also need to sort out plans for Ten Under. It looks like I've left it too late for camping on site (sorry) but there's several nice campsites near by. I'll chat to you tomorrow to get plans sorted.
