Yaaay, 1st proper nightride tonight. 2 laps of newcastleton trying to keep dave in vision. Funny moment was me wondering who the rider was behind me on a section. Kept seeing his light over my shoulder. Turned out to be the moon Funnily dave admitted to having the same thoughts as he rode along. It was bloomin cold in the lycra. Thnk the full length tights are coming out. Strange as last weeks ride was too hot in just t-shirt

I hope to god you weren't wearing just a T-shirt....

Would probably look better than the lycra Davey
No i wasnt JUST wearing the tshirt. That would be taking the weight saving to extremes. I like the lycra. It feels sooo right

The Socom is built and ready to ride!!!!!

Dave, that is very very nice. I am very envious. Sorry I haven't been on here much recently - just snowed under with stuff at the moment. I will be out next Sunday so I'll hopefully catch up with a few of you then.

Putting a days holiday in for friday. Looking forward to a ride
I have a day's holiday on Friday too. Where are you thinking of riding, Andrew?
Andy Borrowdale Bash, lunchtime start with Davey, Kate, Mike, Neil and me, and anyone else who wants to join us of course
As per Dave. Dave, where do you fancy for wednesday??
Hi guys, can you give an idea of "lunchtime start" are you thinking around 1, or a bit earlier. Are you meeting at Keswick pool?
Will do Simon - was thinking 12.30/1 at the Pool but just checking with Dave and D&K - think they might just have the afternoon off. I take it you're thinking of riding?
If the timings are right and my bosses are away as expected, then yes i would like to join you. I'm just unable to confirm anything yet, circumstances will be changing in the new year though, which will make these things much easier .
Sounds interesting Simon - hope you can make it anyway. 12.30 Friday Keswick Pool car park confirmed - I'll try not to be too late :/ Actually we'll hopefully be early for once.

Ahhh, for once i can have a nice lie in and then a nice ride. Or maybe i will be given the duty of dropping all the kids off at school & nursury and be buzzing around like a blue arsed fly as always I need some advice on knee joints lads. Mine are bojangled tbh. This is the best week i have had so i managed to get out of bed this morning unassisted, but its getting ridiculous. Knee is numb after exercise It regularly 'locks' up when twisting and turning during football. This is accompanied by an intense pain and then more numbness that i manage to run off. The locking up is as if the joint becomes stuck but in the same movement frees itself which is unbelievably sore. There is no swelling anymore Last week after a particularly bad session of pain my knee was clicking all week. Every step a little click from the kneecap. Mainly the left on. Oh did i mention this is in both knees The cycling seems to free it up tbh. Riding with dave on wednesday was a relief and my knees felt much better. Can i take an supplements to aid my joints? Is it worth going to a sports physio (£15 per hour ) Should i go to the doctors and be told to stop doing sport. I hurt my knee ligaments quite badly when i was younger and they sent me out with a bandage on it

First port of call would be a good sports physio definately. I also take some supplements from holland and barrat with rose hip and chondroitin, not sure if they work, one of my friends is a pharmacist and recommended them. They are more pre emptive than medicinal, maybe not a bad thing to take if your planning on carrying on playing. Doctors vary greatly, if its the same one that prescribed a bandage before then avoid, if its a different one it may be worth sounding them out.

I'd go to the GP first since they're free - they should refer you to a specialist, who should investigate and then refer you to physio/surgery/whatever. That's not going to be a quick process, though it might be worth starting it now. Might take you a bit of bullying to get the referral from the GP. If you know a decent physio and don't mind paying it should get you sorted quicker. Glucosamine has definitely helped my knees. I believe it helps cartilage regenerate. You can get it with chondroitin in it, which may help too, though it costs a lot more than the plain stuff. Takes a couple of months to feel the benefits.

"Can i take an supplements to aid my joints?" Yes, but it sounds like there is an underlying problem(just like me!!) Is it worth going to a sports physio (£15 per hour )Yes. Gael Moffat @ Dgone, keeps me on the road Bit more than£15 but worth every £££. Should i go to the doctors and be told to stop doing sport.Yes + what Saintly & msmit says. I got told to stop about 30yrs ago . It is along with my back problem the reason I have very reluctantly given up squash. Not being able to walk or pedal my bike became a bit of a priority. Once you have gotten over it and given up football something else will come along. Dominos maybe I hurt my knee ligaments quite badly when i was younger and they sent me out with a bandage on it
