Just as well there's a couple of secret trail options from top to bottom of Descender Bender Definately riding Kielder tomorrow. Not my first choice to be honest - meeting an old riding buddy there. Dave - I take it you're not keen on Kielder at the moment? John - I might be free on Sunday next weekend. I am off all next week - got some decorating to do, but I will be out on the bike at least a couple of times.

I found it pretty uninspiring the last time I rode it Andy, no flow on the new red section, poor signage and really crap surface. The Deadwater trail was quite badly washed out leaving the trail in a bad state. IMO it's the material they use, all the fines get washed out leaving that railway ballast (but larger) type stone behind, pity really as I do like the route. The new route around the lake is a one I'm gonna do as a nice training type ride, at 26 mile it's a big ring blast!!! But see what you think

out yesterday afternoon for a cold and wet dales ride, think thats a welcome to winter, it was great. Dave, that Kinetic does not get on well with wet yorkshire limestone ! Not sure any tyre does TBH.

Had an OK ride at Kielder but not spectacular. Couldn't really get any flow going but that was at least partly down to me riding badly - think I'm going to ask Santa for some new Mojo, I seem to have lost mine.

Hey Carlisle is a small place. My wife is always getting people come up to her and saying they know her husband 'Kinny' even if she hasnt a clue who they are. Its prob because of the football. Anyhow, we got a classic on saturday. The wife is in the hairdressers, and she was chatting to the hairdresser when for some unknown reason my name cropped up. Then another woman in the hairdressers got involved saying a guy she workes with knows me. Then the name Steve Surle (Rubber Boy) pops up who apparently knows me. They then discuss his leg breaking incident. How, for gods sake, do woman manage to do this?

Anyone else going to suffer tomorrows rain in the interests of getting out on the bike? Did not bad for biking this week. Dalbeattie on Monday and Mabie night ride Thurs + 20mls or so on the road bike

I'm hopefully gonna be out tomorrow afternoon for a spin John but just local like, little bit of a 30 mile leg loosener. Up the old C2c to Consett then back down the Derwent Valley railway path before heading back for home!!!

Whinlatter Duathlon done, tough event but good fun, very muddy, very hilly(no surprise) got round in 2 hours 30. 2 40 minute 5.5k runs and a 15-20k bike in 1 hour 10, feeling a bit tired now. Did you get out with the Fanylion boys John? Dave/Andrew any idea where your riding this week ?

 Congrats Simon. Good going.

Well done Simon Did I get out over the weekend? 22mls of Dalbeattie on Saturday followed by a lovely Indain curry, a few beers, home by 4am and biking again by 10am Sunday. Magic weekend

Yep, well done Simon - sounds pretty quick, are you back in racing whippet mode now? No riding for me for a couple of weekends now - either been away or had people staying. The forest's turned to gloop now and the dark mornings mean it's diffifult to get out before work - think I'll try tomorrow though. Great to read the tales of riding in 'adverse' conditions mind - I particularly liked Davey's riverbed/snapped seatpost ride - not sure why but inspiring stuff!

It was just one of those daft rides Mike. The weather was so bad we didn't see a single other person and we just laughed like lunatics all the way 'round. You ever ridden at Aston Hill? We're off to my Aunt's near Aylesbury in a couple of weeks and might take the bikes with us.
|
 |
Had a similar ride the same Sunday I think - By 8.55 (when I went out) the sky just opened. Only four of us showed up for the ride, and we all bailed early down wide bridleways to get home. Halfway back i got fed up with that and just headed off into the singletrack laughing manically. When i finally got home i still wished i'd stayed out longer! Hmm, Aylesbury - my nephew lives nearby in Thame and goes up to Chicksands regularly. Aston is chalk and allegedly lethal in the wet. There's supposed to be singletrack in the Chilterns but my nephew doesnt really ride it - they get out in the woods and build jumps'n'stuff - pah, kids! I'll ask if he knows anywhere else round there.

Well done Simon it's the running bit I couldn't do!!!! Just read your message, I didn't get out this week. Will be out somewhere next week if you fancy?

Dave - I'm afraid we're on a short leash this weekend. away next weekend so need to build up the dog-sitting credits with the in-laws so we're gonna have to a quick doorstep blast this weekend.

Hope no-one's been affected by the flooding
