RP3 Fox shock has a switch on it. Not really to use when riding but you can put it on fully bouncy, medium bouncy or no bouncy at the flick of a lever. Its the propedal settings yer adjusting btw
The old Fox RL shock on old Tracer had a lockout device which was fitted later as an upgrade. It's a really crude design and has caused many a cursing moment from mechanics all over the world because it is so fiddly to install. It worked pretty well in use though.
Actually what's so wrong with deciding when the shock should be actuated or not? Platform shocks look good on paper but the reality is there is a trade off over small bump performance. Specialized have their Brain technology but I already have a brain in my head so I think I can decide when my shock should work or not. I just think that a lock out has the best of both worlds. You can mash it up to the top of the hill and come down it like Gracia.
I have a lockout on my Scott Genius and rate it highly. Don't often lockout the rear fully but switch between Traction control and all travel to fine tune bike on the fly
