I've heard some complaints about them falling out mid ride, but is that just a couple of dodgy ones, or a widespread problem? Should it put me off buying them?
Hope QR's are well engineered but the design is a bit flawed as the cam has no over-action at the close point. Most QR's have a reverse cam action at the very end to lock them in the closed position. Hope's don't.
Shimano still make the best QR's on the market IMO, save the money and get some of them.
I don't have them but I know a few who have and they've never had any probs. I can't remember the details but I read somewhere that they don't get on with certain hubs??
i know that there are problems occasionally, with hope hubs. skewers can become stuck inside the hubs. but this is easily fixed, regular greasing the skewer. fortnightly will do.
i don't think they're are any specific hope skewer problems with any specific hubs though.
There are problems with every product ever made. Hope skewers are no exception.
I've used them before, and I'm currently using some now. I've never had a problem with mine coming undone, and I don't think (touch wood) that I ever will. I check my bike over before every ride so it doesn't really bother me.
Running Hope skewers for many years now, never had a problem, still got the same one's, occasional check for tightness and abit anti sieze on the shaft.
