it turns out cheaper than rf evolve dh, and i've gone totally off truvativ now, so much for isis!
right, i replaced the bb, then tried it out, still creaked a bit, turns out the splines are nackered on the crank, when riding up to bike shop, dropped off a kerb, and crunch, all splines gone
BMX cranks and BBs need a bigger shell. The fine splined O/S axles have the same small bearing problem as ISIS in an MTB shell. So Saint it is. Not too heavy either. How big are the kerbs round your way Mike?
Answer the question rather than concentrating on my errors ;-)
Ok i meant Saint. However, i for one cant see how anyone this side of 20st or a freeride god can get anywhere near the stress levels you would need to kill LX. I just cant see it.
TBH truthfully you have only killed a bb (To be expected) and damaged the splines so that doesnt suggest that you could actually 'damage' a LX more than you could a Saint. They still have the same spline interface and bb. Carrying weight for no reason imo.
Do you ride DH? If so you need a dh rig. If not yer gonna spoil your enjoyment of riding.
If you ride XC and keep breaking things at 12st, i am over 12st, you need to look at how you ride cos people carrying 3st more are having no problems with the kit your breaking.
Maybe yer hitting things on the trail that others wouldnt. A bit of awareness of what will & wont hurt yer bike.
but, do i get the double + bash, or the triple. bear in mind i've pleanty of 44t chainrings from various cransets that i've destroyed, but i have no bash rings
You could go for a set of FSA pounders, steel 3 piece cranks with an ISIS BB, you would never break them in a trillion billion million hundred thousand and twenty four years.
