If you want big wheels and thin tyres for winter, just get a CX bike.
Oh aren't you the funny one!
:-P
Not quite that skinny!
On a serious note, it looks like I'll be able to commute to work as it's moving closer to me (conveniently) and a CX bike would be ideal for the canal path commute. Either that or fixed and slicked/mudguarded up for traffic bashing.
I'd kill a CX bike for winter use, but I ride the same stuff only worse over the winter.
I'd agree with Mike – they're pretty hardy beasts and are great for building handling skills.
Edit: finding somewhere to live with more storage should really be an option too...
"Edit: finding somewhere to live with more storage should really be an option too..." Yep,
I was looking to dump the current FS and HT for a efficent 5incher, kinda middle ground of both, but looking likely I'll replace the GT's frame with the GT 5 frame, then replace the Trek with a 29inch HT LOL
Quite fancy the Spesh Big Hit, the base range model for the occasional DH day LOL
Thinking about racking so I can wall mount the bikes :)
Thinking of a On-one 29er rigid as a winter commuter... probably slicked up most of the year... or do i go the whole hog and get a Specialized Langster?... hmmm, decisions decision...
