I'm kina a civil servant - so I can control my job from the net - yeah the Wyre prices are high - I have friends Shrewsbury way - but least I have access to good biking?

Abit easier access to n.wales from shrewsbury ofcourse, if man made and big mountains interests you.

But it's not too far to drive to Wyre occasionally.

Sure you'll find local routes given time, or another BMer in that area to guide you.

Experience wise, Ludlow is likely friendlier, Shrewsbury from the limited experience abit stuck up and anti social.

No - I have long term non married partner - on housewife leave currently - and as keen an MTBer than me - no kids - but large dog

it's about right here, near enough to get to anywhere quick enough, good local riding, shame theres no local climbing really.

If you can commute to Shrewsbury Mike then why not somewhere round the Longmynd area?
Church Stretton or over towards Bishops Castle or Pontsbury. There's way more mountainbiking there than Ludlow.

Take full advantage of the Long Mynd.

( although got to say rode there, other than 1 descent down from the gliders club which does rock, BORING )

Hi paul here, I have been to ludlow many times and was very close to moving there myself (nan has two homes there), but have never rode from there myslef so cant really advise. I used to live in solihull though, up untill 4months ago, and there is definitly more riding oppurtunities in ludlow ;)

But solihulls great if rather expensive though,

I don't think Ludlow has the Chav problem that other small retirement towns have.

Malvern for instance, SCUM SCUM SCUM, kids are too bored, police are scared to go there ( seriously ) and crime is riff.

Really after good xc doorstep riding - can happily drive the bike to Wales for more extreme fun

Does anyone know the villages round Long Mynd (sorry if spelt wrongly) I know the mags have been there and I know any local woods get better the more you use them

Just look a map around Church Stretton, there all abit small, but only 12miles to Shrewsbury.

Personally I'd prefer ludlow and 25miles if you've only got to go to the office occasionally.
