It doesn't interfere with the down tube at all and you get a rear guard thrown in. Good quality plastic that won't shatter or flex when clogged with mud, like some of the others do.
I agree with Hans! The 'THE' fenders are the best that I've used & I think that they look better than all the others that I've seen! I paid £30 for the set 3 years ago & considering they are only £22 a set on crc, I think they are a bargain!
haven't used the sks, but tried the defender. i found it doesn't fit anything with a reverse arch (pace, manitou) as the arch hits on full compression, and tends to flap around on the bumpy stuff. mine finally broke after i bodged it on to my pikes, it flapped too much, caught the front tyre after a drop off and got ripped off (as was i when i bought it). i've since binned what's left and fitted a crud.
I've got the Top Peak 'cos it's cheap as chips and easy to fit. Seems to have worked so far.
Oh and all maudguards make your bike look shit, it's the payoff. Be covered in shit or have a shit looking bike. I'm going for the former at the moment.
Yeah, while i love the taste of thick grit in my mouth, it doesnt help with the diet.
I couldnt really care which ones I get really, i think the easy on durex erm I mean SKS or Top peak ones should give the required protection. And can easily be clipped off when i am cruising past chicks ;)
I'd go for SKS - good compromise between performance and size. The Topeak is a bit large and inelegant and the fitting bit you stick up the stearer tube looks a bit fragile to me. I wouldn't bother with the Crud personally as they don't trap any of the mud coming off the top of the tyre.
