I'd been wondering why the girls in the NAAFI kept of insisting I ate bucketloads of the fruity stuff. Turns out they were just thinking of their own delicate palates.

My two penn'orth; 1. How often do you buy new threads? As and when needed unless I spot a bingo-bargain! 2. How many riding shorts & tops do you currently own? Four or five shorts, 2 tights, about 10 tops 3. Do you buy for looks, function or both? Both 4. What's the best/worst feature you've seen on bike gear? Adjustable peak on my Giro E2. Made a huge difference! 5. Do you wear fixed, removable, or no padded liner? All of the above 6. How much do you think is a reasonable price for a)shorts - up to 80 b)jersey - up to £50 c)waterproof jkt? £100-250 7. Do you/would you buy over the internet, or do you buy from bike shops? Shops. Where would we be without them? 8. You favourite 3 brands please... Oakley, Endura, Troy Lee

 1. How often do you buy new threads? Once or twice a year 2. How many riding shorts & tops do you currently own? 5+ tops, 2 prs padded baggies, some lycra tights , 3. Do you buy for looks, function or both? Function first, but must complement my pasty white legs. 4. What's the best/worst feature you've seen on bike gear? Best? Dunno! Worst; erm, just poor fitting stuff really. 5. Do you wear fixed, removable, or no padded liner? Currently fixed, prefer removable. Having a "spare" removable is quite useful, can take 2 pads for weekend without needing 2 shorts or washing. 6. How much do you think is a reasonable price for a)shorts £40 b)jersey £30 c)waterproof jkt? £100 7. Do you/would you buy over the internet, or do you buy from bike shops? Both. Clothing tends to be from LBS though if possible. 8. You favourite 3 brands please... Berghaus, Altura (value), Gore Bike (waterproofs)

Do you buy for looks, function or both? Both. 4. What's the best/worst feature you've seen on bike gear? Best - my Gill eVent jacket as it does exactly what it's supposed to. Worst - probably mesh padded liners in baggies: just shite IME. 5. Do you wear fixed, removable, or no padded liner? Currently removable. 6. How much do you think is a reasonable price for a)shorts £40 b)jersey £30 c)waterproof jkt? £100 7. Do you/would you buy over the internet, or do you buy from bike shops? Both. 8. My two penn'orth; 1. How often do you buy new threads? As and when needed unless I spot a bingo-bargain! 2. How many riding shorts & tops do you currently own? No idea. I used to guide and now work in the industry. Lots. 3. Do you buy for looks, function or both? Both 4. What's the best/worst feature you've seen on bike gear? Zip fly on Altura shorts. Makes the call of nature a whole lot easier. Worst? Non-breathing or vented winter jackets. 5. Do you wear fixed, removable, or no padded liner? Currently fixed or skins under protective moto shorts. 6. How much do you think is a reasonable price for a)shorts - up to 80 b)jersey - up to £40 c)waterproof jkt? £50-200 7. Do you/would you buy over the internet, or do you buy from bike shops? Both, but ideally try to get fitted up at a shop. 8. You favourite 3 brands please... Don't have favourites and certainly am not brand loyal when it comes to clothing. At a push I'd say Howies for their understated riding clothes and ethics, and Shimano for shoes.
