Ear plugs for the Friday night when the chimps come out to play.

Lights

On the food front, chocolate trifle works for me, but it's a weird thing - you never really know what you're going to fancy eating in the early hours of the morning, or any other time for that matter. Fresh fruit is good, especially if you've had enough of gels, bars and similar gunk. Noodles are a sort of good halfway house between food and non-food and salty too, but not the Thai Curry ones this time

I always have a bacon and egg bap for breakfast - it just hits the spot for me even if it's probably not nutritionally spot on - just listen to your body, it tends to know what it wants.

You going to come and stay at Camp Peako then?

Oh, the other thing you definitely want as a solo, is some sort of pit bitch. You bringing Mrs F and the family then?

Mrs F and the bin lids will be there to talk bikes and shit and do all the pit bitchin required of them!

Got some two way walkie talkie for the middle of the night and got 3x MP3 players lined up to keep me company.

Lights are charging as I type and the sudocrem is already packed. ( Y use chamois creme when I still have oodles of the sudocreme stuff left)

The fruit sounds good as gels really dont agree with my digestive system.

Derek, I and the wife have decided to give it a go! It'll make a nice break for the kids!

And breakfast has to be in the form of trans fats and such like!! mmmmmmm bacon !!!!

Ok

Laying on my bed is.
Big bottle of SIS Psp22 - obvious reasons
paper plates, plastic cutlery & plastic cups. - again fairly obvious
Mars bars - instant sugar
Disposable bbq's x2 - to go with...
Sausages, Bacon.
Bananas - stop cramps, instant energy
Sausage rolls - quick food, finish a lap and can't be arsed to cook
Go ahead/Nature valley/Nutrigrain bars - you crave these badly IME
Instant pasta. - i live off these, they're perfect after a night lap. take about 10mins to cook and are an acceptable meal.
Cup a soup - personal preference, but i quite like 'em

Bread - you can never have enough bread.

In the past, people i've raced with have brought:
Red Wine?
Rice pudding
a selection of cheeses
baguette
quorn mince
and refried beans.

i don't reccomend any of 'em

I'm gonna be using a camp stove, which while you can survive without, makes things a lot easier

Edit: now my computer decides to work

What, so you can still breathe when you're buried under a pile of crumbs from your nasty sausage rolls [ah, wrong Mike, never mind...]

Fwiw, I wouldn't start believing the weather forecasts just yet. I've done all the Malvern Mayhems and the forecasts tend to be utterly random. Also, compared to the first ever one there, in erm, 2004 I think, everything else has been a walk in the park. That really was unmitigated hell with a new course about four miles longer than the current one, more climbs and proper endless rain. There were people taking over two hours to finish a lap and weeping in the ferns at the side of the course.

Somewhere at about three in the morning as I slid sideways through another downhill fern bed, it occurred to me that it was one of the least pleasant things I'd ever done, including some pretty nasty mountaineering at altitude moments involving near death happenings. So look on the bright side

To add to the list:

Something to do the washing up in (bowl/bucket etc.) + some washing up liquid, a brush or sponge and a teatowel.

Bin liners - everyone always forgets bin bags and ends up using carrier bags.

A warm jacket of some description that you can throw on over cycling gear in the night and a beanie hat or wooly hat for the same reason.

I always take some sort of flip flops for trekking to/from/in the showers and some wellies in case it REALLY goes wet.

Food wise it's hard to know what to take, but don't go for all energy type foods and include some treats for when your a bit low and some salty stuff to replace salts.  Oh, and I agree with Jon on the bacon butty thing.  Usually straight after the first daylight lap on Sunday.

See you there!
