Depends on your helmet, i just use a strip of inner tube tied around the slide it under, luckily my vents are nicely placed You can get mounts on that site to then they sit higher and hit more trees though.
Running 2 x 250lumen torches at the moment, switching to 1 600lumen and the 250lumen, put the other 250 lumen on the bars, I think i paid £12 for the 250's.
Likely get 2 of those though, if it checks out when it arrives, hopefully tommorow!
The Ay Up's look really neat. Don't own a set myself but a couple of the guys I ride with on a Wed night use them and I'm quite impressed considering how small they are. One of the riders used nothing but them through last winter.
Similar Run time to the P7 1/4 the output of that P7 ( free postage at that site @10days delivery ) and by the time you add in batterys + charger more expensive.
Quite a few on here do use them though, if you run 2 at once then they'll do for most riding, looking at £100+ though, which is still dirt cheap!!
* DO NOT buy the hope 1 Vision thinking thats pretty, the L2D leaves it for DEAD *
When did you sneak photo's of my light system you PERV, I use Inner tube these days and the L1 is gone to a mate, so I can remove the lights in seconds, makes changing batterys easier to
Good job I luv's u man
p.s. at night, when in use, it's dark, you can't actually see them, just the awesome cheap, you crash they break ohhh no your down £12 brightness
Suggestions are good, the more the merrier then let jools decide for him/her self!!!
Not me, the pics are courtesy of paul taken during last November's BM meet on the Chase - seems soooo long ago since that happened, where's time disappeared too??
The Fenix is a great light Jools but you'd need one on your bars as well as one on your head for night riding. I use one in conjunction with a Hope LED & it's great for picking out detail & lighting where you look. The 'Lockblock' handlebar mounts can easily be adapted to use as a helmet mount too so you needn'y look as bizarre as some
Spooky - was jsut about to start a what light thread!
I had been considering the hope 1 or the exposure joystic due to ease of mounting. I then remembered I'm a bit on the tall side and spend a lot of time with my helmet brushing low twigs n branches etc so think the tinky winky style of helmet light wont last long.
What about these silva jobs? Like the caving lamps? I have a Xen so am thinking a light on the front will be less prone to gathering leaves or getting bust. Does abnyone have any experince of this sort of light?
I have just purchased a hope vision 1 online having not seen one in the flesh. And I am completely underwhelmed by it. It's way to big and clunky to be helmet mounted, not at all what I expected from hope, I think they could easily have made a smaller unit with a little thought.
Captain Slow, if you can strap a torch to your helmet, then it really doesn't sit at any height at all, so no tree issues.
I used the L1 on it's own for ages, mates got a HID on the bar ( superstar one crap ) and the L1 is brighter than the HID, although only in a very small well focused patch.
The Hope 1 Visions output is below that of 1 of my 100 lumen torches, my 250lumen torches, at 1/6 the price making the Vision look like it's off seriously, don't touch them, too big and heavy, sit way too high on the mount and not enough output.
Dinneto 200L or Joystick MAXX are the only proper lights small enough to head mount to me!!
Best to have 2 to keep the balance and the helmet from sliding to 1 side all the time if your going to do that though.
Best to always run 2 anyway on fast descents, having my HID switch off on me as it did at speed with no other light was abit scarey, just grabbed the brakes and stopped ASAP and got lucky, scarey!!
