The ING Renault F1 Team will not dispute the recent allegations made by the FIA concerning the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix. It also wishes to state that its managing director, Flavio Briatore and its executive director of engineering, Pat Symonds, have left the team. Before attending the hearing before the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris on 21 September 2009, the team will not make any further comment.

I guess Renault gave them a push in an attempt to save the team?
|
 |
Surely the team is nothing without them? It's a conspiracy, Bernie will have known and now he's making way for the four new teams.

Does any of this actually suprise anyone? I would be suprised if there has ever been a totally straight F1 world champion win. Come on, are you telling me in a world where one little technological advantage can be the difference between 1st and 10th that teams arent cheating to get info all the time. Can you imagine Schumaccer or Mansell refusing info that would possibly give them the edge? Is it cheating or is it sportsmanship? Renault do seem to have crossed a line though in crashing the car to get the safety car out though. But i find it strange that telemetry isnt checked after such incidents as a matter of course.

Surprised? Not really. Disappointed? A little.

Surprised? Not really. Disappointed? A little. Me too.
Hobo, telemetry wouldn't have told anyone anything unusual about the incident in question. It was a 'clever' crash if intentional.
