Yeah, get real Billy. Violence is a fact of life, we are animals. We have evolved a male dominated society, hence all the aggression and violence in the world. The only hope we have (too late now) is by having a matriarchal society, such as Bonobos, where sex rather than aggression (as in Chimpanzee society) is the way of life. *Takes head out of Behavioural Evolution book*
Load of crap, for the first two sentances,as for the chimps, if we went that way, we as men would be accused of being sexist males, and all the bra burning women would be up in arms.

I think you'll find that my statements are all factual.

Apart from the one which suggests Bonobos don't display hierarchical aggressive behaviour.

We where always a male dominated society, now we are a shared society, male and female,we share the same needs and skills, due to education and job prospects opening up. Aggression is in all societies, there will always be people or groups of people who will try to dominate or take charge, and they may or will use aggression to achieve it,one has only to look at the armed services, where aggression is controlled and used in a so called controled manner. Now how would you control an army ,using sex as do the chimps you speak of.

Observations in the wild indicate that the males among the related Common Chimpanzee communities are extraordinarily hostile to males from outside of the community. Parties of males 'patrol' for the unfortunate neighbouring males who might be traveling alone, and attack those single males, often killing them. This does not appear to be the behavior of the Bonobo males or females in their own communities, where they seem to prefer sexual contact over violent confrontation with outsiders. In fact, the Japanese scientists who have spent most time working with wild Bonobos describe the species as extraordinarily peaceful, and de Waal has documented how Bonobos resolve conflicts with sexual contact (hence the "make love - not war" characterization for the species). Seems like a good life, in reincarnation.

Sad Bloke the only man in history who can link ethology and job prospects

"Now how would you control an army ,using sex as do the chimps you speak of." It seems to work OK for the Navy!

Boxing is a joke and I can't wait for this so called civilised society to ban it. I agree BHB Why is it that if two people are fighting in the street they get arrested, but putting a couple of ropes around them, and charging people loads of money to watch is OK?
|
 |
Because stuoid people are easily parted from their cash, to make clever people more wealthy. Sounds easy doesnt it.

I boxed as a youth and IME it provided discipline and a sense of purpose to a lot of lads who would otherwise have been aimlessly hanging round on street corners.

Apart from the one which suggests Bonobos don't display hierarchical aggressive behaviour. I never said that, you little tit box. I merely commented on the fact that Bonobos live in a matriarchal society, where sex is the preferred method of resolving disputes.

And you didnt get paid a lot of money, and neither did your sponsors, you did it for the sport, companionship, competition, and physical and mental fitness. (Must remember to always agree with you from now on) .
