I am after some new lights, and i have a couple of questions...
1. i was told by a bike shop that a lot of people were having problems with the vista lights batteries losing their charges easily. Cateyes however were fine.
2. is 2 x 10W bulbs enough for trails/road, or should i go for a minimum of 15W
I have been using a set of Vistas and have no problems at all with them. You are now going to get a whole host of replies telling you to get Lummicycles and I have to say if I were buying a light set now I would go for these, a few of my mates use them and they are great and they are made in the UK. You have to buy the direct from the factory and I suspect somebody will be able to give you a phone number. I use a 15W bar mounted lamp for riding twisty forest singletrack and find this is enough for me.
Andy, I've got the lumicycles and they're great. But prior to these I used vistalite vl430's with 2 x 10w bulbs and these were fine for off roading. I had one as spot and the other in flood setting so no probs, but the difference between these and the lumicycles is immense.
I bought a set of vista nsc 20s recently and i'm just about to send back the 5w lamp and one of the batteries, the lamps got a dodgy conection inside it and keeps flicking on and off and the power socket on the battery has pushed back inside the battery housing. Other than that they've been really good (the nightstick battery system especially).... the 5w lamp deffinately isn't up to trail riding on its own though, which is probably why its bundled with a 15w too in this package ;) I too would probably go for the lumicycles if i was buying now... but then when i got the vistas i got them for £100.
