I have 3/4 of a Cateye Cordless 2. Unfortuantly the other 1/4 (fork sensor and mount)is somewhere in the mud on the North Downs. A replacement would cost 20 quid so I might as well buy a new one as I don't like this one much - pretty unreliable.
Go corded. I have (Cordless 2 to Enduro 2) and haven't looked back. Works all the time now, even when it's cold.
Failing that I could post you the sensor and mount from my old one (in fact you can have the head unit too if you like). Mail me direct with your address and I'll see if i can find it tonight :).
I have to agree with Alistair - If you used a corded computer and wire it up properly, it should work problem free for ages. When I sold cordless computers, we used to get so many back with problems that I reckon we'd have done well to drop them from the line-up...
I was sure yours was one of the recommendations I saw when I bought my Enduro 2. If so, practice what you preach! I love mine, easy to set-up, good functions and excellent mountings.
Rev. Not me. I've owned an old Mitty which was fine but I sold it with a previous bike. The Cateye was my first forey into cordless 'puters and as per my review I found it a bit hit and miss.
I'll try the spare Als going to send me but failing that I'm going all luddite and back to wires.
I got a VDO 15+ cordless a few months ago and have had no problems with it. I would reccommend it so far but its not winter yet so I dunno what it will be like in the colder weather.
I've got a sigma BC1200, it's cordless and I've had no trouble with it @ all. It's endured two cold winters, being immersed in a river in Wales for about 2 minutes and all the usual mud , flying stones, low branch hits etc from off roading. Also it's got a dual wheel size capability and has seen me right for the commuting runs in v. heavy rain. Recommended!
I've got two varieties of Specialized cordless - both have been v. reliable even in freezing cold/pissing down. Only drawback is the speed of update from the sensor to the head unit - can be a little sluggish. Otherwise, no probs.
I've never had much problem with the cordless 2. On the other hand the wires on wired ones degrade/break and then they don't work either. A breakthrough solution to the cordless not working is that the magnet seems to need remagnetising every so often. Try sticking it on a large magnet, eg speakers. This might improve the performance a bit.
