Behind Saddle Bottle Cage
Anyone know where you can get one?

My Marin has a mud catching bottle boss, or a gonad-destrioying-in-the-event-of-an-off one. I normally use a camelbak, but just can't be arsed for short spins. I've tried waist packs, etc. but I reckon that a behind saddle bottle cage would be the answer to all my prayers.

Any ideas? Thought I saw one on Wiggle but it was £20 - like to know if I've any options first.

I'm sure I saw one in the Evans catalogue - can't remember the price though. Tried the website?

Try some of the more road oriented shops as it is something that triatheletes use.
I have a 'two in the back' twin bottle mount somewhere in my loft. I'll have a search for it and if I can find it its yours. That wa the solution for my Marin when I first got it. That said it needs two bottles in it and you need to alterante which one you drink from because it unbalances the bike otherwise!
However I now have a much better solution. Pop down to your nearest Blacks or similar outdoor sports store, and buy a small sized Platypus 'bottle'. For those unfamilar with the Platypus its a hydration system available in various parts and sizes. The 500ml and 750ml bladders will fit in the back pocket of a cycling jersey, and you can fit them with a hose or a simp,e pull to drink cap depending on requirements. Very versatile.

Great idea! Unfortunately, none of my jerseys has a back pocket ( I go to a Nike outlet shop, and pick up their dri fit stuff for next to nowt).
I can sympathise with the unbalancing thang; that was partially the trouble with the waist pack; that and I couldn't get bottles back in to it on the move.

If you can find it, it'd be molto appreciated - cheers!

Topeak do a "behind the saddle saddle bag holder (????)", which also doubles as a "behind the saddle bottle holder".
I also met some blokes round eskdale, who's mate machined up little widgets to do the same trick. Problem is I have no idea either who they, or their mate was.
(fat load of use I am eh)

At least it proves I'm not just imagining they exist; that's happened before now.

And how come everyone seems to have a matey with a lathe except me??

They exist alright - I've got one!

A couple of nifty machined bosses that clamp around the seatpost and you mount a cage to as normal - came with a Trek Y bike a few years back.

Sorry, you can't have it though, cuz its the only place I can mount a bottle battery on my Patriot for night rides.

I think that St Johns Cycles used to do them as I bought one from there many many moons ago.Have you thought about a waist bum bag? they can be bought with a bottle holder sewn in?

Yeah, I have a Karrimor waist pack, which is great for carrying tools, food etc. but I can't get the bottles back into the holders without stopping and scrabbling around - I've had some near death experiences trying to do it! Do you have a number for St Johns? (or a web site).

The Y bike one sounds like what I've seen; I also thought I saw a Specialised branded one in a mag picture, but I've never seen one in catalogues.
Evans have got them, go to "bikes and Bits" then "training" on the drop down. You'll see a link to "Topeak quick click fixer".

Most roadie shops do them for time trialers and triathletes.

They are good except the bottles have a tendency to fly out when you go over big bumps

Profile do a twin bottle one - it is about £16 though. One of the Y-bike things should fit if you can find one - I know a lot of delaers never used to fit them and may have some lying about. Specialized did them on a few FSrs but you'd need a 30.9 diameter seatpost or a bit of bodging for it to work and a damn long seatpost.

Really sensible, "easy to russle up on lathe" ideas always seem to be like hens teeth to find don't they?

Thanks All - I've followed SloJo's links to a £7.99 cage; single bottle, but ample for me.

Cheers - one less crash a week possibly.
