Anyone had any probs with the new Shimano 959 pedals. My spangly new pair only lasted 5 rides & they broke. Cleat retention bar & spring snapped clean off. Fantastic things to get in & out of, but now wondering if there may be a durability problem.

No problem with mine so far. If there had been a problem with mine, I'd have found it by now.

Have heard of this problem before...one of the guys from my LBS trashed one of his in a similar way just from hitting it on a root while riding!

Hello to the messiah...if that's who I think it is..and you were planning on using the 959's at Ciclo Montana..that's where mine bust... but I still think there are great pedals...but take a spare set just in case :-)

Messiah...was unlucky enough to be out at Mark & Jackys place at same time as the Maniacs couple of years back.

Ryan, been using ATAC's for the last three years, great pedals, but got some noo shooz & the ATAC's are difficult to clip back in. Even cut some tread off new shoes, but still no good. I found in technical stuff the ATAC's needed too much movement to get out of fast, so I shaved the cleats like it shows on the Speedgoat website & they were loads better. But still don't work well with new Specialized shoes.

On the subject of time attacks - would be very expensive to change as I have 4 bikes and three pairs of shoes.

I also have no problems with SPD's (maybe once or twice a year).

Me knees like SPD's!
