I have fitted an airzound2 bike horn (£19.99 from Xpedia) to my trusty commuter steed and tried it out today on "twat in Cavalier", bloke looked around to try to see who had beeped him, but all he saw was person on bike so cue bemused angry look.Im going to have some fun riding to work for the next few weeks.Anyone else have any recommendations for effective sound generating products?
i got myself a pair of those areosol airhorns at the bikeshow, still no way to mount them tho :( i'll have a looksee at the airzounds when i have the cash.
i just tend to chase the twats down and give them hell, being. 6'4" and ugly has its uses :-)
Those Airzound things sounds a good idea, i would love to have the pleasure of riding up behind some fat person who is in my way on a single track, wobling side to side & blast them with it. They would shit there selves. Great.
Another good thing about them is that you just need a pump to "re-charge" them so you can be as trigger-happy as you like and it dosn't cost anything. Its a bit like my smart lights, I flash cars with the 10w and they wonder what's coming towards them. Im not sure if I would like to "beep" a horse with one as the poor ol' nag wouldn't stop until it ran itself out. I've only had them a day and so far its been a top way to spend £20.
The thing with this airzound is that it is very simple and well put together, I hate products which are badly designed, it clips on and off in a few secs so you can ride into town and then take it, off which I like, some bike stuff seems like it has been thought up by people who never ride bikes.
Yeah, aren't they great those air horns. I've been using an AirZound for about 2 years now, even if I'm going for an off-road ride I'll stick it on the bike for the road sections getting there - you can bet that some pedestrian or driver will do summat stupid that needs 'pointing out'!! Best use is scaring kids silly with it when they've just left school & are walking home all over the cycle paths ;)
About their design though, I'd have to disagree & say that the bar clamp is a bit crap really, I've found that the plastic runners which grip the horn wear away in no time & you have to rely on either zip ties or arranging brake cables to hold it steady - has to be done though, as I found to my cost when my 1st horn dropped off and got mangled between the tyre and forks!
I'd quite like to get a travel version of one of those AirZound horn things. I'd mount it to my trolley when I go round waitrose to get all the fatties out of the way and chase them out of the cake aisle. I've started to see people who are so fat in Ealing that they need an electric cart to move them round... just like any typical walmart store in the U.S....
