Hi
Anyone out there got anything to say about them, good or bad. Need to upgrade my wellgo clipless pedals and I liked the look of the 959s. On mtbr.com there is a mixture of great reviews and also some really bad ones. Stuff about the tension spring falling out mid-ride or the bars coming off, and also lots of people slating how shimano dealt or not dealt with the problems people were having. Would anyone recommend these pedals?
Cheers

Yep, great. Had mine since January, no problems work just fine. Went from Wellgo via VP to these would not go back.

Buy 'em, they are a great pedal, especially after dealing with 858's! entry and exit is good and reliable, despite all the mud at the recent Kona 100 not once did i have trouble clipping in!
As far as springs falling out, no problems to report here, the bolts are extacly where they have always been!
Top pedal, and axle design looks soooooo cool against thae craks as well!
Ten out of ten from me.

I paid £64 @ stif, not sure if they're still doing them at that price.

And I'll echo what everybody else says. I changed from Time to 959s and reckon they're much better, even in the mud.

ta, ill have a look at their website.
kelvin..only 9/10? what did you penalise them on?
has no one else even heard of bad things about them even if theirs have been great?
cheers
I got the impression from mtbr.com that some of the probs were major concerns. I wonder if the americans got a different batch or something. doesnt really matter, im sold on them anyway.
thanks again

I'd give them 9/10 cos they're expensive. However, I've found that they work really well, and I haven't snapped them yet (I've got a bad track record with breaking pedals). If you get them, I'm sure you'll be happy with them.

Bit late - sorry, just got mine.
I used Coda pedals and Cannondale Arrago shoes for 3 years.
Put 959s on my new Jekyll and got new shoes Pearl Izumi with Ibar. The combination of solid plastic sole and seriously teflon coated pedal gave me a few missed entries.

I've just had to practise my aim.

Very comfy and firm when in.

I probably need to up my tension, I've done some hairy pop outs on jumps and bunny hops, thank god for long travel full sussers to save bad riders.

Mine broke after a week of use, cleat retaining bar & spring snapped clean off, ended up with one-sided pedal. They were replaced though & so far they have been fine.
