With the weather now beginning to turn for the worse ( did it ever get better? ). I need to install some mudguards on my new bike. However, I now remove the seat and seat post when I lock the bike at the train station. Having a Crud Catcher attached to the seat post would make it a tad difficult to fit in my bag. Can anyone recommend a similar rear guard that fits onto the seat tube? That way I can leave it on the bike when I take the seat and post.
The old style crud race guard would work. They attach to the seatstay bridge and the rear eyelets.
I have a slightly different set up with a new style crud race guard, where I have a seatpost adapter made by BETD on my FSR, which has just the right amount of space to clamp a Crud Race Guard on. I actually use it to give me more seat height adjustability with an interrupted seat tube but it would do the job for you. It would mean a new seatpost though, and the adapter/mudguard assembly would be vulnerable to theft. A QR on the lower clamp is necessary or the seat post wont come out easily.
?? The old style ones don't fix to the seat tube or seat post. They fix to the reflector eyelet at the seat-stay bridge and have thin alu tubes running down to the eyelets at the dropouts. Getting hold of one now is quite hard though.
