Help. Are there *any* road shoes with MTB type treads around the cleat? I'm using CMs that do, but they're too floppy. I need something completely rigid. Preferably quite wide. Shoes, that is. TIA
I'm using Shimano M220 on my road bike at the moment. They are basically a road shoe with a mountain bike outsole stuck on. This means that they are light and stiff, but possible to walk in (after taking out the toe studs.
Unfortunately being Shimano they are a pretty narrow fit.
I've read some good things about the Specialised shoes as well. See the review on the cycling news site
Yeah, they're not road shoes but the Specialized Mountain Pros (the ones that are or were bright red, but that may have changed) seem pretty good to me.
I don't know if you can get them with a more grippy sole, but Sidi shoes offer a wider fitting version of their shoes. Have a look at www.sidiusa.com or www.sidisport.com
