I`ve had alot of problems with pinch flatting inner tubes,it may have something to do with 235lbs weight and complete lack of subtlety in my approach!!!
However I seem to have found a very good comprimise in th Nokian DH tube.
It`s not insanely heavy but is standing upto dogs abuse with impunity!
Anyone else had similar problems or solutions?
Is there a Clydesdales type discussion site on BikeMagic or elsewhere?

nope not really, Clydesdale isn't a term very much in use in the uk. We try not to alienate larger riders...

This is gonna work out fine. Substitute "XC whippet" with "Shergar"

stick with the nokian DH tubes, i had probs until i started using them, and now, get no problems! (I'm 12 stone)

What about Stans/Eclipse style tubeless systems?

Solves inner tube punctures by not having inner tubes!

i get on fine with the gazza tubes, they go best with a beefy tyre.

i'm 220 lbs and have 6 pairs of tyres heaviest being 500 grms and lightest 360 grms they all have panaracer flataways kevlar anti puncture liners and i find them to work well but if you get water on the liners it can eventually rot, anyway because of the liners i find that i can get away with continental supersonic inner tubes@95 grms each.
