I'm on the lookout for a Hardtail Hardnut for messing about on. I've stumbled upon the Shogun Gatecrasher2 its looks pretty good for the money sub £300, could probably do with a crank upgrade. Has anyone got one? Has anyone got an opinion on them, i believe they are built by Claud Butler!!
no they are built by the same company as claude butler. get a decent couple of year old frame. something like a zaska or something. get it for around £100 and build it from parts. z1 221 rims and a deore group set. that will last you and serve you better then a £300 nasty bike. look through the 2nd hand stuff here. thats my advice.
The CBR Gatecrasher came out very positivly in a review in MBUK. The only comment ( which also carried onto the Barracuda Ghetto I ride ) was the crap forks. I replaced the forsk on the Ghetto and it was fine. It's also had mechs and other kit but that was more down to the fact I wore out the base kit as any other reason. Other than that it's a nice bike. MBUK where spot on with the Ghetto so I see no reason why they could get the Gatecrasher wrong.
check out cycleshopsmart.com or.co.uk i forget and theyll build a cheap hardnut. i dont think theywill build their wheels that wonderfully at that price though so maybe head elsewhere for hoops
always a bit dubios about buying chepa stiff over the interweb thingy except chainreaction the old i.e before the crap had to br recalled triple crap forks model x iles where reasonable bikes witha pretty good frame may be able to find one still i know the halfrds where I roked only cleared the last in march sort of time.always be carefull when buying hard nut bikes 2nd hand cos think that someoen has done when your going to do before and dont knw about stacks etc.
ive got one of those they are grate but i would recomend different forks, i have upgraded to dirt jam pros and i have changed the wheels to sun rims so i can fit disc brakes on - hayes el camino trial VERY POWER FULL- overall i think its a good frame and a very strong one and could make it in to a exelent hard tail
