Just ordered a new wheel from Merlin. Just a small point but would a Mavic 517 come drilled for Presta valves or Schrader valves? Will Merlin do one or the other if you don't specify? I'd like presta drilling so its in keeping with my other rims but wasn't asked and forgot to mention it at the time.

Ring them up and tell them which one you want,they will do either.If it is too late ,and they send Schraeder,there is a grommet you can use to adapt to Presta.

They do Schrader as standard, well mine came with them anyway...

Should be schrader with the grommet pre-fitted.

Do Merlin drill out the holes themselves or is that how they come from Mavic? Anybody know?

All 517s I've had have come ready for schrader valves.

Rang them this morning, they come with Schrader holes so they can't shrink them obviously but they are putting the grommets in before they send them.
