Hi there
I just wanted to commend my local bike shop, Dyson’s Cycles of Dunstable, and Specialized UK. I wasn’t sure where or whom to send it to. Basically, they’ve been complete stars and saved me from months of rocking to-and-fro in the corner of my room. Why? Well I had an ’02 Specialized Enduro Expert frame, which I bought from them second-hand last November. However, whilst cleaning it on Sunday (23.3.03) I found to my horror two large cracks along the weld for the upper shock mount. I called Ian at Dysons the next day (he was the previous owner) with my tale of woe, and dropped the frame off on the Tuesday lunchtime. Thursday morning I receive a call from him saying that my replacement frame is here, all shiny and ready to be abused.
Talk about chuffed! So once again, thanks to all concerned at Specialized UK and Dysons cycles of Dunstable; good work fellas!
Regards,
Howard Jones

Maybe i'm just being cynical, but did he tell Specialized that the frame had been sold to someone else. Or did he say he still owned the frame? I thought frame warranties only applied to the original owner. Sounds like a result for you though!

Yeah the thought had crossed my mind, but I also emailed Specialized on Monday to ask what I should do. Their response was the same; take the frame to your nearest dealer.
To be fair, I don't think its the first time this has happened to an '02 Enduro. If the decals are peeling off, the frame will be fit for nowt in next to no time...

It's some good service! I bet Kona wouldn't give me a replacement for my broken 4 year Kula. Maybe i'll give them a call. Don't ask, don't get I guess!

Yeah try it.
Unfortunately I don't have time to fix it up ready for a ride tonight so out comes the '95 Cindercone from retirement...

I have a 2002 Enduro Pro (standard bike) and recently after owning it for 15months I noticed two large cracks in the welds of the top mounting bracket for the rear shock.

I took the bike back to Guildofr Cycles and they were great. They sent the bike straight back to Specialized UK who have replaced the frame with a 2003 Enduro Expert. I have read a few topics on the web now about the same cracking of the welds. I think its due to harsh downhill use, although the new 2003 frames have been strengthened.
