Fitting top pull XT to "TRACER".... what a bitch!! Find it almost imposiible to stop the chain from dragging on the chain guide bottom spacer section at the rear. When the chain is on the granny ring. If I lower it..the chain guide hits the large chain ring when I shift up....
Does that mean that you're running a double chainring or is it a 44/32/22 set up? How are you setting up the mech? Try lining up the outer cage with the teeth on the largest chainring and place it so it is about 3mm above the teeth at the closest point. Also, when the chain is on the granny ring, is it dragging regardless of which sprocket you are on at the back? If its dragging when you're using the smallest rear sprockets then that wouldn't be a real surprise as you shouldn't really use that particular gear combo anyway.
used to have a similar problem when using a triplechainset on my old Marin rocksprings, got round that by upgrading to a SC bullit, ditching the triples for a chain device and buying a hardtail (not all at once!)
Have you tried palying with the rear 3 shock/frame settings??? Got mine fitted in the middle one (Lower of the 3). mainly Xc and weighing in at 12 stone!!
Luke, only a little, I've just finished building it up.
The top hole gives you 3" of travel with a very steep headtube angle for pure XC type stuff, the bottom two holes both give 4" of travel. The bottom front one gives a slightly steeper head angle to quicken the steering, the bottom rear one a slacker angle for a more downhill approach. I'm running the 4" steeper headangle which suits me, although it also gives you a massive ground clearance as well. I haven't experimented with the differing chainstay lengths yet though.
