I'm using Avid V's with aztec catrage style pads at the mo. Seem to be going thru pads really quickly btu getting very little braking power. Ive tried new cables, diff pads etc but not noticed any realy difference.
Has anyopne got any reccomendations for grippy pads that would git the aztec cartrage, or any pad for that matter? i'd prefere just to experiment with pads n stuff rather than have to buy new brakes etc.
i mainly ride trails n xc type stuff on not overly muddy ground but mainly sandstone based.
this may sound a little bit odd but it does work...
i used to complain to my dad about the very same thing - brake pads being expensive, not getting value in terms of performance etc etc etc
my dad is a mechanic (cars) by trade and he handed me a spray can and told me to spray the brake pads with it once i'd cleaned the bike (making sure the rims are clean, the pads are clean and the cables are good is always the first thing...) it was a clutch dry clean spray (can't remember the name - sorry) and it made a definite improvement to the stopping power - although not a permanent one.
