I was thinking of getting a cheap full susser and was wondering about getting the Specialized Enduro but does anyone have any other ideas about any other bikes and what the Enduro is like.

Cheap full bounce? Risky option really.

Although, what do you call cheap and what's it for?

I think he's just told us - spesh enduro at, what, £1300 ish? Yes, it's a good bike, although I suggest you look at the Marins in that price range too.

Try looking at a 2nd hand I-Drive. I recommend them (ive got one :) too) You can pick them up fairly cheap on classifieds and just think of the money you will have left over, enough for any upgrades or travel items you may need. Aint had any real problems yet that i havent been able to fix, no faults with the frame whatsoever.

Whyte JW-2? Something different, to make you stand out from the crowd. If you can live with 8 speed.

I've been looking at the Marin's - the TARA bikes get consistently good write ups, the base level Alpine Trail bike comes with hydro discs, OK shimano drive train stuff and has the convertable 4-6 inch travel thing which is supposed to work a treat.

air shock rear sus is supposed to work well but perhaps begging for the fox of higher spec models.

but cheap does not mean over a grand in anyones language!

I changed from a Spesh FSR XC two summers ago, and bought a Marin Wolf Ridge which is one the TARA bikes.

I have to say that if the Enduro had the travel it has now two seasons ago, I would've bought the Enduro.

The Marin is a very good bike. But the single swing-arm cannot match the FSR four bar design. It just isn't as active as the Spesh, and there's that niggling feed-back you get on rolling dips. But . . it does have more travel and little/no need for pivot maintenance, unlike my old FSR XC. That was a squeaky bike!

i found the enduro to be too short in the top tube personally - it was a bit of a bounce fest as well but that was most likely due to the shock not having the right air pressure in it...

i wanted the extra travel but a more stretched ride so i ended up with a deal on an 02 fsr, stuck psylo sl's and a BETD link on the back and now have a kind of inbetweener bike :D it's not free ride by any means but it's not the whippety xc thing it was meant to be anymore either.

so basically - have a look for last years fsr's going cheap.

Certainly look at old i-drives. Mine is about 700/800 quid in the CLassifieds and some bits are new on it. Its in good shape, with lots of life :)

If you dont like 2nd hand then look at Marin and Specialised an Trek.
