A radial spoked wheel is one where the spokes go from the hub straight out to the nearest hole in the rim. Shorter spokes = lighter wheel. I wouldn't be keen to use it on a MTB due to torque & other forces that are applied to the wheel when being used. The only time that I could see it being adequate would be on a non-disc front.
Hi I have radially spoked front wheel on my MTB and I think its top. I've ridden over some big jumps, big down hills and crashed it into a tree still no problems. Cheers, John
What about snowflake pattern spokes? Ahh those 90's years were great! If you do go radial make sure that the hub/rim were intended for this kind of build, then don't and go 3 cross.
Snowflaking WAS great! I've still got a snowflaked front wheel on my hardtail...
The Barnetts manual (nice one XB) that Xavier has helpfully directed us to in the maintainance forum explains a bit about torque forces from disc brakes and that radial really ain't a good plan if using discs - have a look.
