I have had the same Polar monitor for 7 years. Have had battery changed several times but it is still going strong.

Got a Polar M52 which I've just passed down to the orther half and treat myself to a 610i. Well worth spending the extra if you can afford it, but it depends why you want it.

Note that a Polar 710 is great on a road bike but if your forks are 100mm travel or more then the speed sensor is too far from the reciever to work. Great on a road bike tho'
