My lovely estate with its fantastic bolt on rack has finally bitten the dust. Its replacement is a Saab 9-5 saloon - great for business travel but hardly ideal for moving bikes.
I need to shift up to 3 bikes, one of which is a Marin Full Sus (which makes life difficult when threading through posts). Which is the best solution for a saloon car. Has anyone tried racks and found them unsuitable?
I had a saris a few years ago. It was ideal for the hardtails but a nightmare for a FS bike. It also hangs over the rear lights and I dont have a lighting socket.
I have a Rhode Gear Shuttle, it takes three bikes and I have had a new style 2002 Marin full sus on it ok and it goes on my Honda saloon. It does obscure the number plate, but not the lights, so just a number plate needs hanging on.
This is`nt just a sales pitch, but it`s up on the classifieds for 25quid, with pipe lagging in place to protect the car paintwork. Came into a few quid and treated myself to a Thule roof jobbie, so the Rhode is going spare. Cheers
