half way up a steepish hill I lost my chain. At least I thought I had lost my chain: I had in fact lost my granny ring, only attached by one bolt. My fault I suppose, but after that I saw fit to tighten the bolts holding the middle and outer ring. Back on the bike it was making noise and I thought mayabe a mech had been damaged but it was the middle ring, now warped due to me over tightening the bolts. Double d'oh. So I was stuck with only the FSA outer ring. I actually climbed better with it, out of the seat, grinding up the hill, but that is by the by.
Bottom line is I want some new rings, and some bloody good ones, to match the rest of my bike (I had plundered the middle ring from an old, cheap Shimano chainset). RaceFace are a bit pricey, so I was thinking Middleburn (to be bolted to FSA V-Extreme cranks). I heard that their shifting is the equal of RF and Shimano. Is this the case?
