I am looking to use my Orange Evo2 on a C2C ride next Spring. I am going to need to carry all my gear and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the best way of doing this.
I strongly recomend racks made of CroMo-steel tubes. Tubus is probebly the most common one. But SJS Cycles does even better ones if you have the cash to spend. Get some decent baggs to. Ortlieb, Vaude and Carradice is all bullet proof.
I C2C'd on my old Raleigh - mainly on the sustrans and road but some off road - I had two small panniers on a blackburn rack - worked fine although the extra weight encourages pinch punctures at the rear. A trailer looks good for road touring but dunno how good it'd be off road?
I am about to purchase a bob ibex trailer for an off/on road tour of northern spain, and canvassed many opinions as to whether they are a good idea and anyone who has used one has got nothing but good to say about them. The ibex comes with suspension and is designed with offroad tours in mind, might get my lass to just pull me along on the back of it!!!
These are top notch, they're made from old Tonka Trucks...so won't be falling apart anytime soon!
The one I got was the 4x4 tow bar mount so I can't speak for the hang on the back of the car types. But if the one I've got is anything to go by then you'd be fine to carry your bike (plus a few others and the family cow) on it!
This is what you want. I saw these over in Vegas and had to resist buying one, they were that cool. You can even carry your surboard or Kayak on your bike with them. Check out the gallery.
