Right Ive got 120quid to burn on a new set of wheels. I need front and rear wheels with disk compatablilty. Whats the best buy you think I can get? Cheers really appreciate any feedback! Im upgrading a trek 4500 to disk and do lots of trails freeride at Glentress in Scotland.

I bought a pair of those yesterday!

They look good, slightly out my budget but after i remorgage the house and sell the wife think i should have enough. Anyone got any other ideas these look pretty good right now.

£120 doesn't sound like a tight budget to me. You can get all sorts of goodies from Merlin for that kind of money.

If you could up your budget slightly you can get a pair of hope XC built on to mavic new XM321 disc rims from dave hinde for £139.95. Slightly over your budget i know, but for the quality of hubs and build you cant go wrong!

As if anyone on this forum is going to buy anything from Dave Hinde after the extreme bashing (rightly or wrongly?) his company has received recently.

Merlin are regarded as one of the top wheel builders in the country. Dave Hinde doesn't even come close

Actually although they may take a month or 3 to get to you the wheels are good. I've got 317s on XT disc hubs(6 bolt) and i have absolutely run them into the ground jumping, going faster than ever on the downhills and doing trials on my (cough) full susser.

I've just bought a pair of sun cr18 rims to put on some parallax hubs, so I'll hopefully get started on those tomorrow!
