Recently got a new bike and decided that oiling it every other full moon is not the best method and so aside from lubing it regularly id like to get some lubey gear for it :)
Mainly im after oil and grease recommendations but if anyone thinks any kind of de-greaser or anyother kind of stuff like that is good please let me know!
Note: Bike used on roads, not off road and as such doesnt get that mucky at all.
Cheers all! Oh and where do you lot buy online from? is wiggle the best bet?
FinishLine premium grease (about £10 but lasts for ages) for greasing stuff, FinishLine wet lube for the chain (rub the excess off because grit sticks to it like shit to a blanket) and Mucoff to clean the crap of the drivetrain. I use Wiggle, CRC and Stif (as well as my LBS coz i get stuff for free).
I use FinishLine lubes (dry on the road and wet on the mtb). EcoTec degreaser, Muc-off for cleaning. Grease wise I just use what ever is hanging round the workshop! Oh and a little GT85 here and there.
Motorcycle chain wax is pretty good for chains. It's not pretty as it's white, but it's cheap, doesn't wash off and as it's a dry lube it doesn't pick up much mud. Not particular good in heavy wet mud, but pretty good the rest of the time.
Duckhams Keenol Waterproof Grease - Zinc Oxide (white) anti corrosion grease designed specifically for wet conditions... Offroad or Road bikes appreciate it for all Grease points (threads, bearings, shafts etc.) - 500g tub costs £9 down your local car parts shop and lasts a lifetime.
Finish Line CrossCountry (Wet) oil for all conditions - just lube delicately (??) - i.e. one drop on each pin, not over the side plates.
Gunk degreaser - much cheaper than bike specific stuff, and for the job you can't get better (not sure about Environment though)
This is Castrol chain wax, as seen in the motorcycle section of your local Halfrauds. They do an own brand version which is a bit cheaper, but you get a big can for the same price as a little squirty tube of Finish Line stuff.
