My old headset is knackered and I need a replacement. I want something high quality, durable, a bit pimpy, but dont want to pay a hundred quid for a Chris King.
FSA make an "Orbit Extreme" and an "Orbit Extreme Pro" - they both seem to have a 10yr warranty on bearings (which is nice).
Any experiences? Alternatives? Anyone got a Chris King? Worth twice as much as an Orbit Extreme?
I did wonder if I would get a response like that - I've absolutely no doubt Chris King is the best but it's £100. And I do want one. I really do. But its £100. And thats a lot of cash for a headset. The top end FSA jobbies have the same bearing warranty as the King and are half the dosh.
Check out Aireal Industries ones at www.airealinduustries.com
They are super pimp, exceptionally high quality and the EV1 is only £45. I've got the EV9 with stainless steel bearings at £59 and it's absolutely superb. 2 yr warranty but it's serviceable and brilliantly sealed so i don't expect any problems.
"but dont want to pay a hundred quid for a Chris King"
the FSA Orbit Extreme is a good value for money headset in my opinion. I have had one on my xc bike for the past few years and i haven't experiences any problems.
