Wanted to lower my saddle this weekend so I screwed in the handle and attempted to undo the cam. Twist it a 1/8 and the handle shears at the threads. Damn - I now have the seatpost permanently stuck in the frame. I guess I could try contacting X-Lite to see whether they have any suggestions / will offer a replacement. Someone suggested to me drilling out the broken bit of thread that snapped off in the cam. Not really sure what to do as the thing is holding my seatpost in the frame okay (creaking a little - which is a bit worrying) and I guess it [saddle and seatpost) can't really be nicked easily!
Cheers Kato, only problem is I'm not sure drilling it will get the thing off, maybe if I drill the whole cam or something?
The cam effectively locks the seat clamp shut - so with out the lever I'm a bit buggered really! And I (recently) spent £35 in this thing so I want to try and salvage it if possible.
I have just snapped the handle on my X-lite wheel skewer! Drill it out and use a hex key or something similar to tighten/loosen the clamp. I'm lucky because i have the qr skewers and seatclamp, so i can use the handle from one of the others!
Yeah, drill through the middle and try not to touch the thread! Once you've done this, it should all just break away. You may need to tap it with a small nail and a hammer but it's usually straight forward enough!
Once again thanks to Skools Shoes - the hex key works a treat - makes a mockery of paying the extra cash for the "security feature" of the removable lever for the x-lite system but worked a treat.
