Hiya! Reasonably new to MTB riding - early mid-life crisis but loving it! Bought a 17 inch Specialized Hardrock Sport (I'm 5'9'' with an inside leg of 32.5'') and as a 'beginner's bike' it's great. My only major hassle at present (other than managing to 'lose' a crucial part to the FPD's I fitted...) is the positioning of the seat - have put it all the way back but I still end up with my butt over the back of the seat as the most comfortable way of pedalling (can't put my saddle any further up as I wouldn't reach the pedals at all then) I think a seatpost with more layback might be the answer - any suggestions/advice? Am on a limited budget. Thanks! Rad
Easton seatposts have about as much layback as you can get, think its about £30 for an EA50. Or you could try a longer stem, the stock ones on the HR's are quite short.
Thanks Nick Will definitely take a look at the Easton's. A longer post would also help - mine's 350mm with no marked "do not go past here without risking life or limb" line which is somewhat concerning when you've got it fairly far up...
As an alternative to Easton, I think FSA do a few layback seatposts. Both are good quality and highly regarded. Not sure about prices for the FSA ones though...
