Does any body know if I can get a guard to fit to a Shimano Hollowtech chainring. I don't mean a bash guard but a guard do protect the riders calf from the teeth of the ring in case you come off. I have just bought my girlfriend a very swish bike, but the weekend the frame arrived she came off her old one and needed 22 stichtes to a gash from said chain ring. She says that she won't get back on a bike unless it has one. Which - when you feel how sharp the teeth on the shimano big ring are - is fair enough. I'm surprised that they can get away with it in this day of "no win no fee" ambulance chasers. I don't mind having to bodge something to fit, just want to avoid the effort of making something from scratch. Any ideas?
A bashring would also get rid of the big ring. Cheapy bikes come with plastic guards on them. Get yourself down to halfords and ask someone there. There is probably one lying around in the bits box that they may let you have (depending on the mood and composure of the employee).
