ive had a pair of RF DH gloves for less than 6 months now and theyve fell apart on me. i must say im none too pleased with them mainly due to the flimsy spandex sides on the fingers which caught on the velcro fastners when ever i done them up.
im not a DH rider but i would like something with a bit more durable with a bit of protection but not too bulky and hot.ive had a quick look on various sites but theres is so much to choose from.
i would rather throw this one out to the punters who have tried and tested the pair theyve got so i know im buying a practical item rather than a good looking one.
If you like the padded leather fingerless gloves then you can't beat Asda.
O yes I said Asda, I got a pair 6 months ago for £4 they are cloth top & leather under with padding & have not fallen to bits even after about 10 washes in the machine.
I'm using Troy Lee XC. I'm happy with them but there's not much protection.Check the website for other models, I'm pretty certain I've seen knuckle dusters there.
My Fox Sidewinders, after 5 years of faithful service (read falling off) have finally come to the end of their time and will shortly be ceremonially buried in my bin. Excellent gloves, although IMHO the new ones look gash. I was thinking of going Troy Lee, or even pushing the boat out a bit and getting the bonkers-looking Oakley Factory Pilot gloves. Small or XL only though.
In my experience RaceFace kit just falls to bits, although I may have been unlucky. Fox seems solid quality, as does Troy Lee although the latter may be a bit overpriced over here.
I like my Spesh Long Ridge. Might be a bit light for what you're after (and maybe a bit nippy in the winter) but unless you plan on reguarly hand planting jagged rocks should be ok......
Leather palm; nice breathable 'not palm' (for want of a better description); Body Geometry stuffing which feels weird at first but works well when you're used to it; over-wrist velcro strap doesn't get in the way; only £20- I thought expensive at first but now realise I'm laughing.
My favourite so far are Scarey Fast gloves. Google for Rocket Power Parts. The UK distributer will be able to get them for you easy enough and they are top drawer.
I'm currently using Specialized Body Geometry Enduro gloves, I've had them about 10 months and they are still in pretty good nick. They are very comfortable, pretty strong and stand up to dumping in the washing machine. They also have a snazzy MX kind of look to them. My previous pair of Specialized gloves lasted two years of abuse. I wouldn't use anything else.
