Hello there, my headset is poo/pants/arse. Can anyone recomend a new headset for my Giant NRS1 (small, if that makes any difference). Do they come in different sizes, and if so how do I know what size I need? Thanking you.
The most common size headsat is 1 1/8 inches. Headsets are also available in 1inch sizes, but this is quite rare. Your nrs is this size, as a friend of mine owns ne and i fitted a new headset to his. I would strongly reccomend the cane creek s2. it really is a great performer, just read the reviews and it looks really slick, aswell as being lightweight. I believe i picked up one for around £30 or less. The next headset up would be the hope xc headset. this is a great looking headset, and is very lightweight. The reviews for this are very good and one of these will set you back £50-£60 or so. The ferrari of headsets has to be the chris king no threadset. I have one of these on my donwhill bike and it is worth every pennt i payed for it. These are just the best money can by for headsets. They come in lots of different colours, and one of these will set you back £100-£120. However, look on the bikemagic classifieds to bag yourself a great deal on this headset!
Hi Ben,I've had an NRS XTC Team and now I've got the hybrid carbon aluminium frame.I did not fit an internal headset as they are hard to get hold of.What I did was use the aluminium reducers you get with the bike/frame and fitted an FSA Orbit Extreme headset. This is a conventional headset but best of all it fits flush with the Giants headtube ie the outside diameter of the headtube is the same as the FSA headset cups. The Chris King is a nice h/set but wont sit as flush as the FSA does and neither will the Hope. Can e-mail you with pics if you want so you can see what I mean.
Is it. thanks for that, i hadn't realised. The Cane creek s2 seems to fit well on my mates nrs1. Is there any way to improve the way this sits, if he keeps the s2 headset on?
Aireal industries do a superb internal headset version of their Evolver headset range, i think they're about £45 over here which is good for the quality - www.airealindustries.com
