What with the ridiculous length of the forks on my DH bike (8" 888s) AND the monumental stack height of my Hope headset, the front end is a tad high, let's just say. I plan to get the lowered crowns sooner or later, but in the meantime I figured I could get a lower-profile headset to help me on the way. So, can anyone recommend me a headset with a REALLY low stack height? And (here's the potentially stupid question) can I fit an integrated headset, or is that frame-specific? Any help would be appreciated.
Integrated headsets are frame specific I'm afraid.
Pretty sure the lowest stack headset i'ev found for people before is a Cane Creek C2 (i think) but there really isn't a lot in it. What headset are you using and what is it's stack height like?
Do you find the headangle too slack or simply too high a front end? What frame is it?
Also, if you're after flat crowns for 888's Aireal Industries have just brought some sweet ones out which are cheaper than all the rest at £120, www.topshelfcomponents.co.uk bring them in.
Flip your stem? that'll bring the bars down a touch. Agree with DS, Cane Creek headsets are amongst the 'flattest' around, bearings aren't too bad either.
