Bought a 2002 Enduro frame which has come with a Fox Float R "Itch Switch" shock. Im 165 pounds, ride xc and this is my first fulls sus so I know dick all about rear shocks. What pressure should I be setting this at and is there any particular shock pump I should use as the frame was second hand and didnt come with one.

Use a high pressure shock pump(up to 300psi), the low pressure ones (up to 100psi) are for front shocks and fith element type shocks that have separate chambers.

Re the pressures, you should have been given a manual, if not you can download them off the Fox website.

The manual will give approx pressures for your weight and show you how to set up the sag/rebound etc.

Got it. Some quality bedtime reading in this baby! mhmmmmm 76 psi lol Interestingly enough this has info on the floar r but nothing on the itch switch. I reckon this must be because fox made it specially for the enduro and therefore couldn't be bothered altering the description in the manual. No worries though the itch switch is pretty self explanitory. Turn it this way, long travel, turn it the other way, short travel. Aint quite rocket science but I bet it still catches people out lol

The itch switch stiffens the suspension slightly in short travel too.

You'll have to experiment. I think I run about 170psi and I’m about 175lbs.

That page is excellent. Im 165ils ish so Ill set it to that pressure then play about with it till I feel its performing at its best. Thanks a million that was exactly what i was looking for.

As you've probably figured, you should only set sag etc in long travel mode.

The short travel setting is stiffer and ramps up much more aggressively, no bottoming out this sucker!

Alternatively, if you're feeling flush you could splash out on a Romic twin tube, as an Enduro specific version is available. Being a coilover, it's about three times the weight of the Fox but is plush and well controlled, with adjustment for rebound and compression damping. I've got the Romic fitted to my Enduro and am well pleased with the end result.
