..... the basement is a pain after a good scrubbing - drip drip drip. But, the bronx it is I hear.

But maybe something in metal with locks and a cemented in chain ring and a motorbike chin and lock to that little number?

I have one of the trimetals lockers. It seems quite well built, and with the addition of a concreted in locking point it seems as secure as locking the bike up inside the house. Not obvious that it is a bike shed either.

how about putting it in a bike bag and stash it behind the sofa? If your area is really rough and bonus is that is not visable if you leave the curtains open and if your missus will let you fit a wall ancor to the wall behind the sofa and a bit of modification to the bag (hopefully you or her can sew?) you would be able to lock the bike to the wall inside the house for good measure and it keeps it nice and warm on a cold night;-)

I've never thought about this as I've never had to do it, but:

What are the effects on materials when leaving your steed in an out-house/shed (like these lockers) during the cold winter months? Could alloys/plastics/rubbers/carbon be affected by sub-zero temperatures? How about damping oils in forks?

In reality none. I've been storing my bikes in an outhouse for two years now with no negative effects.

Hey, great replies, that's really helpful, thanks.

I now have some research on costs and delivery to do.

And I also now know that my pride and joy will not turn to a rusted mass of alluminium and magnesion dust!

When I get some costings, I'll post them here for all to see.

Thanks again!

I was considering the same options as you, Charlie. My area is relatively low risk, so I'm looking at this 'shed':

http://www.gardenbuildingsdirect.co.uk/Garden-Storage-Units/Storette-Storage-Box

http://www.diytools.co.uk/diy/Main/Product.asp?iProductID=337

Not inpenetrable but reasonable cover, and looks like it would store 3 bikes nestled together.

Just FYI.
