I was a long time user of an old Thule boot rack - never had any problems with it till I started to update my old-fangled skinny steel tubed bikes to modern chunky tubed bikes (which it doesnt fit). So I bought a new boot rack from Hulfuds (sic) and on my first run up from the big smoke to Thetford, got out at the end to find my rack and bikes had slackened off and were hanging on by a wish and a prayer. I will never use it again. Currently looking at a Thule 591 roof system, but worried the chunky square tubes on my '07 Marin Attack Trail will escape sideways from the frame clamp.... Advice welcome...
Good lord, I was just about to take the plunge and buy a set of Thule bars and fork-mounting carriers.
I thought they seemed more secure than the type that straps to the wheel, and less likely to damage the bike/not fit the bike than the downtube-clamping type.
Can anybody out there tell me if the Thule 9402 ride on (tow ball mounted) rack is compatible with my Dawg Primo & the missus Spesh Myka? I dont fancy making an expensive mistake by ordering on line only to find both of our bikes aint gonna fit on properly!
At mo I'm contemplating driving to France with the old Halfrauds scaffolding frame on the back of my 406 estate, however I dont like the thought of having to keep my fingers crossed for the entire journey & forever looking in the rear view mirror!!
Any help or steers would be much appreciated.................
