preferably from someone who's actually used one.

We've got one on test - can you wait a couple of weeks?

probably - it's looking like my current shock's not a write-off so (sadly) I won't be forced into an upgrade situation

Hi Mike - How's the testing of the HVR200 going, I'm looking at getting one for my Heckler and interested to see what you have to say about it.

New or old Heckler? It makes the back of my old one feel a bit floppy :-(

New Heckler, purchased last year. The one I rode with you in the Quantax earlier this year.

Jungle have told me that I need a:-

Shock length: 200mm
Both bushings: 22mm / 8mm hole

and it will need to be 'valved specifically for the Heckler' whatever that means.

Oh, hi Chris, didn't recognise you, sorry ;-)

Given that you've already got a 5th Air, I don't really think that you'll see much benefit from an HVR.

When's the review due? Reading between the lnes it's not going to be a stunning recommendation.

Actually it's got better - further investigations revealed some rather weary swingarm bearings that the old shock had presumably masked. The DT's spherical bearings mean that if the shock is even slightly trying to keep the two halves of the bike in line, you'll notice it no longer doing so.

Other than that, I'm fairly impressed - the platform dial works nicely, although the meatier platform settings feel a bit on/off, and it's pleasantly linear. Runs really low pressure - mine's at about 60-70psi - so the seals aren't working too hard and it ought to last well. And it's very light, but somewhat pricey.

Oh look, I've nearly written the review now ;-)

FYI to anyone who might run into this thread

have a DT swiss 210SL which has failed after 3 months of light use which is a shame as it worked very well but they tout its 'swiss' reliabilty they even assemble them submerged in oil ! just thought I would add this, it has to go back to Switzerland !
not bad for £350.00
