Right, got a set of these at the weekend and had a quick wee go on the road at the weekend- have twiddled with them a bit and read through the supplied manual but these are my first coil shocks and not 100% sure about my set up- compression is about 2 turns out, rebound at the factory setting and threshold about one turn out. I weigh about 12.5 stone- any hints tips?? the pace instructions can pretty much be summed up as - fiddle about with it on the trail till you're happy...
thats pretty much what you have to do with most forks isnt it? on mine i run the compression damping 3 turns out (minimum) and that gives me full travel on rocky trails. the spring ramps slightly towards the end of its travel for the bigger hits. i weight 13 stone on a good day. so depending on the sort of trails you ride and how you ride you might need a lighter spring maybe? the threshold i found was trail and error until your happy with what sort of terrain kicks the suspension back in. or you can just raise and lower the front wheel quickly and with force to revert to suspension. rebound i pretty much leave at the factory setting unless i have a load of steps to go down etc, and then ill slow it down slightly. but most of this i think is personnal preference, see what works best for you allen. there a great set of forks, enjoy!
Was out on the road for a couple of hours yesterday- immediately noticed the difference from my old dukes- they fit in much more with the nature of the bike and the kinda riding style I like... Going to Glentress on wednesday to check them out properly etc... Felt like a lot of cash to spend on them but initial impressions are encouraging. Pretty stoked about getting them to be honest. (oh dear)
good stuff. i also turn the bike upide down and leave over night every couple of weeks to soak the foam rings in oil,and service them every six months, which is really easy to do.
Make sure you engage the launch control befor you up end them as Pace advise, or the oil will possibily drain out of the damping system it will then need re priming.

Rider weight 11 3/4 stone - I am running my RC40XCAM's at 2.5 turns compression damping. I have also reduced the rebound damping 3/4 turn and found that helps to prevent the forks packing down. They now seem to work a treat
Apparently Pace have known issues with the travel adjuster on certain RC40XCAM's. My adjuster has now locked solid at around 400 miles use. The bike shop says Pace are aware of a design fault and are supplying a new modified spring cartridge that should solve the problem. In the mean time, the forks work otherwise perfectly, I merely can not change the travel length.
If the spring's right, then it really is just fiddling until you like the feel of it. I'd start with the compression fully out and only wind it in if it feels a bit too plungy. Rebound is down to personal preference. I like a fast fork, so I run as little as I can get away with without getting bounced off the trail ;-) The threshold adjustment doesn't do anything unless you've got the Launch Control thing engaged.
I've been advised that by a lbs mechanic that I should send mine back to Pace- getting a wee bit of stiction- its about 5 months old, not used really hard and try to keep the seals cleaned and lubed... any ideas??
nah I've never really had that- turned it upside down to lube the seals without engaging lockout and it took me two days to realise I needed to recharge the damper but thats about the only problem I've had....
maybe its time for an oil change then allen, a small amount of oil is supposed to come up through the seals to help keep the seals free of dirt and lube the stanchions.
